Email Marketing Specialist

Notice: This is a full-time position open to local (San Diego, CA) and remote applicants (US only).

The Email Marketing Specialist’s primary role is to create cold email outreach sequences sent through LinkedIn Navigator. The intention is to generate legitimate “ready-now” sales calls for our client’s sales teams. This role is a blend between an email marketing specialist and a Linkedin specialist. We're ideally looking for someone with a strong command of best practices and trends in effective ad copywriting, general email marketing, and social media marketing.

You must have a strong background in sales copywriting for digital lead generation in at least one of the following channels: social media, content marketing, email marketing, or paid ads. Outbound phone sales experience is a plus. 

You are a focused relationship builder, with strong communication and follow-up skills who can identify opportunities, develop engaging sales copy, nurture leads and help prospects to book a phone appointment.

Superior communication skills and a highly optimistic attitude are a must.

Once hired, you will be required to:

  • Work normal business hours Monday through Friday

  • Be a brand ambassador for Digitopia—speaking at events, leading job fairs, etc.
  • Be a thought leader for Digitopia—publishing content on our blog, for example.


  • Serve as the main point of contact for our clients facilitating weekly calls and regular email correspondence
  • Build buyer personas, identify buyer pain points, and create appropriate messaging matrices
  • Ideate content offers and funnels
  • Manage and build various LinkedIn Inmail lists through LinkedIn Navigator
  • Segment lists based on behaviors and demographics
  • Write sales copy for outbound email sequences sent through LinkedIn Navigator
  • Create LinkedIn groups and help design and implement LinkedIn company profile pages for our clients
  • Curate client and 3rd-party content to create a content calendar which will distribute the content to LinkedIn group members each month
  • Analyze and measure results and optimize
  • Develop documentation and road maps for processes, A/B tests, and promotions that succeed through LinkedIn Inmail
  • Manage a small team of virtual assistants who manage the execution of the strategy you will create

Required Skills

  • Candidates for the role of LinkedIn Outbound Specialist will be required to have the following experience and skills:

    • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
    • Past experience with email marketing, lead nurturing, marketing automation, and/or web analytics
    • B2B sales support experience
    • Highly analytical and able to derive meaning from data through A/B testing and email optimization
    • Experience in direct response style copywriting with a history of proven results.
    • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions
    • Experience with LinkedIn and LinkedIn Navigator
    • Experience using Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides
    Experience in demand generation marketing, inbound marketing, and blogging

Bonus Skills

  • Candidates with the following experience/qualifications will receive extra consideration:

    • Experience writing effective direct response style sales letters
    • Experience working in HubSpot Sales Hub and HubSpot Marketing Hub
    • Education or background in journalism
    • Education or background in human behavior and buying psychology
